Troopers on patrol early on Wednesday morning stopped New Windsor resident Christopher Raymond, 45 on Route 208 near the intersection of Denniston Road in Gardiner after he committed a vehicle and traffic law violation.
During the traffic stop, Raymond was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and he was arrested at the scene. Police charged Raymond with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor and operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs.
Following arraignment, Raymond was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,0000 bond. He is due back in the Town of Gardiner Justice Court later this year to answer the charges.
